Keith Weesner

I was at Hollister's Farmer's Market tonight with my family and saw a guy wearing this shirt. I could tell from a ways back it was Weesner's work. Keith Weesner, whom I've never met, is mentioned in a book I continue to mention in my blog becauase it rocks and helped me fine tune my bike drawings, Thom Taylor's How to Draw Choppers Like a Pro from Motorbooks.

I've since put Keith's website in the links section of my iGoogle, which I can access from anywhere.

Keith has some terrific works of art featuring his own brand of hot rod, motorcycle, and pinup art. I understand he can be found at a number of different car shows on the West Coast as he's quite a hot rod fanatic, which I guess should be obvious by the looks of his art. He's also got some great screen credit in animation and art departments. If you haven't yet, check him out, buy some of his art. I really admire his work and hope to bump into him some time at a car show.

The guy who was wearing the Weesner shirt is a local car fanatic himself. Turns out he grabbed a handful of my postcards at one of the local places that sell them and shared with some of his friends in the far north of our state. I turned around and showed him my shirt, which featured the art from that card and managed to sell him a shirt (Planet of the Ape Hangers) on the spot. I won't actually have my shirts for a few days (I'm on the schedule this week at the screen printers), but have been doing some presales ahead of production.

We chatted it up quite a bit while our kids played on the jumphouse at the farmer's market. Good conversation, good dude. Also featured some Big Daddy Roth tattoo work on his arm. We'll meet again around car and art stuff.

Anyway, all that seemed worth blogging about. If you're still reading and are interested in getting a Cartoon Thunder shirt ahead of the crowds in Los Banos, email me.

Oh, so you removed your shirts from Zazzle as part of the deal with the screenprinter? Bummer... I'd like to keep selling & promoting them on my site. Any way I can do that?

I think you're one of the best Biker Shirt makers I've come across for quite a while, and I'd like to help you sell a few. :-)
